Our mission:

“To help our students find the dancer within!”

“Dancing at its best!”

Our goal is to expose children of all ages to the art of the dance, fostering an appreciation for the performing arts in an educational atmosphere, while nurturing and inspiring each student.

We respect and appreciate both purposes of dancing—those enjoying dance as a recreation, as well as those aiming for a professional level. We offer a safe and supportive environment for all of our dancers to learn and grow.

At The Dance Box, we are not only teaching dance, but we are building life skills in our youth, determination, confidence, work ethic and discipline. We know your child will create lasting memories and friendships with a dedicated staff that will encourage them to achieve their dreams.

Why did I start my business?

Nine years ago, I saw a need in King George County to create a place for children to dance in a non-competitive atmosphere, one where students encourage one another, one that allows for self discovery, one that inspires each dancer to grow. Dance is about telling a story through movement, it is passionate, brings joy, and requires self discipline and determination, it is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, weight, or skill. We promote positive body image in a healthy learning environment.

General Information

Performing Opportunities

We hold two large stage performances a year, both open to the public and located at the local King George High School.  Please understand that this is a financial and time commitment that each family should consider carefully.  The first of our seasonal performances is our winter production of The Nutcracker, which highlights ballet dancers (ages 3 and older) and is held in December. Our second production is our annual Spring recital, which enables all of our dancers to showcase their talent and hard work. It is traditionally held in late June. In both cases, a letter of commitment must be signed by all dancers’ families. Additionally, you will receive informational packets describing both of these performances in more detail closer to their performance dates. In order to offset the cost of renting our performance space, we sell showtime tickets and advertisements in the production handouts. These performances are a wonderful opportunity for even our youngest dancers to begin dancing on the big stage.

Inclement Weather Policy

We do not follow the King George County School schedule when determining whether to cancel classes in the case of inclement weather. Instead, we will post our operating status on our Facebook page. (You can also call to check on the status of classes.)  No credit or refund will be issued due to weather closings; students may make up the class during our normal schedule.

Make-up Policy

If a student is sick, they can make up a class at their level or below in the same dance session. No credit or refund for absences will be given.
